The honest answer: the same range of things any child likes at that age — but here is how families most often frame the question, and what we recommend. Every toy here is open to any child; the age advice is what matters.
0–2 years: sensory-first, safety-always
Wooden rattles, cloth books, soft-toy first friends, stacking cups, and BIS-certified teethers. Avoid detailed baby dolls with removable accessories at this age — anything small becomes a mouth risk. A keepsake soft toy given now often becomes the one they carry to school six years later.

3–5 years: pretend play and first art
Kitchen sets, doctor kits, a first easel with washable paints, chunky wooden puzzles, magnetic tiles, dollhouse starters. This is where a small handful of well-made pieces beats a big box of licensed plastic. A good wooden play kitchen gets years of use; a light-and-sound version usually gets weeks.

6–8 years: craft, first STEM, family games
Detailed craft sets (bead jewellery, embroidery starter, colouring books with real pencils, not the free-with-cereal kind), first science kits, magnetic building, and 20-40 minute board games. This is a sweet spot for hobby-kit starters — a good calligraphy or terrarium kit often becomes the thing they ask to redo weekend after weekend.

9–12 years: real hobbies, real skills
Jewellery-making kits with proper findings, sketching and watercolour starter sets, embroidery hoops, beginner robotics, chess, strategy games, brain-teaser puzzles, model-building. A ukulele bought at this age is a decision they will still thank you for at seventeen.

13+ years: gifts that respect the age
Ukulele or keyboard, calligraphy set, embroidery kits, a serious puzzle, terrariums, a proper sketchbook and pencil set, brain teasers. Skip anything that reads “for kids” on the box. Teens read packaging as loudly as content.

A note on “girls’ toys”
We don’t split the shop into “boys” and “girls” sections. A child who loves building will love magnetic tiles regardless of what colour the box is; a child who loves drawing will love a good sketch set. Use this guide as a starting point when you’re asked “something for my daughter”, but let her interest lead the final pick.
