How to pick a puzzle or game your family actually plays

Match piece count and complexity to age

Jigsaws jump in difficulty fast. 12-24 pieces for 3-year-olds, 60-100 for 5-6, 200-500 for 7-10, 1000+ for teens and adults. If it\’s too easy or too hard, it goes back in the box.

Choose games with short play time and clear rules

The games we recommend for families take 20-40 minutes and can be learned in 5 minutes. Complex strategy games are wonderful, but often better as gifts to older kids after they\’ve caught the bug.

Check the box and piece quality
