If you’re at the till at 6pm on a Saturday, five minutes before you have to leave for a birthday party, this is your list. Four ages, three genuinely good gifts at each, and roughly what they cost. 3-year-olds
Wooden shape sorter (₹600-₹900): pretty much never fails. The 3-year-old figures it out on the third try, then does it fifty more times. Bonus: parents love it because there’s no noise.
Chunky wooden puzzle 12-piece (₹450-₹700): vehicles, animals, or Indian everyday objects. Look for grip knobs — small hands struggle with flush pieces.
Set of 4 board books (₹500-₹800): Karadi Tales / Tulika Books for gorgeous Indian stories. Rhyming books get re-read the most.
5-year-olds
60-piece magnetic tile set (₹1500-₹2500): a hit every time. If the child already has one, add a compatible extension pack — parents love that we thought of it.
Doctor / vet / tool set with a real-looking kit (₹700-₹1200): pretend play at its peak. Vet kits are the sleeper winner — most kids don’t have one.
Ravensburger 48-piece jigsaw (₹550-₹850): the puzzle quality is noticeably better than cheap alternatives, and the child feels the difference.
7-year-olds
Snap Circuits Junior (SC-100) (₹2500-₹3500): the classic 7-year-old gift. Genuine electronics learning, 100+ projects, batteries included in most sets. Ask us to include rechargeables — always appreciated.
Beginner chess set with book (₹800-₹1500): proper wooden pieces, weighted board. Kids at 7 can genuinely start learning; get one with a “moves” guide printed on the box.
Watercolour set + spiral pad (₹700-₹1200): Camel or Faber-Castell student grade, 12 shades. Real art supplies feel completely different to the cheap classroom set.
10-year-olds
Metal Earth model kit (₹500-₹900): laser-cut steel model of a vehicle / building / ship. Assembly is fiddly and totally absorbing — perfect for a 10-year-old who wants a real project.
Beginner drone (₹2000-₹4000): palm-sized, gesture-controlled, safe for indoors. Ask us — the popular models change frequently and battery quality varies.
Codenames or Ticket to Ride: India (₹1500-₹2500): family-friendly strategy games that a 10-year-old can beat their parents at within a month. Ticket to Ride: India edition is especially fun for the geography.
Two rules for parties
One: if the party is in a Mangalore restaurant or garden, avoid anything with many small pieces. They get lost in the grass or under the chairs.
Two: always include a receipt tucked into the wrapping. Kids sometimes get five identical gifts; the parent will thank you for the option to exchange.

What's a safe gift budget?
For a friend’s child, ₹500-₹1000 is the sweet spot. For a close relative, ₹1500-₹3000 usually. Aha! Toys keeps hand-picked options at every budget — DM us the age and budget and we’ll suggest three.
Should I ask the parents first?
For anything above ₹1500 or anything that makes noise, yes. Loud musical toys and pet-related gifts are the ones that most often go wrong. A quick WhatsApp saves everyone.
Do you gift-wrap in the store?
Yes — free gift-wrapping at the counter, brown-paper style with our stamp. Add a “gift note” comment on your online order and we’ll include a hand-written card.
